Staff and Teahouse Resident* responsibilities:

• Keep a greeter on hand at all times to welcome new people and to serve tea if requested

• Maintain an atmosphere of kindness, warmth, and safety

• Keep unkindness to a minimum

• Protect people with different backgrounds, cultures, and beliefs

• Teach new Residents how to help

• Grumble about problems that make a person feel unwelcome

• Pursue the Teahouse mission to provide a continually active chat that provides an experience of kindness and warmth for as many people as we can

*Residents don't need to do these things unless they are willing to help.

Becoming staff:

• Are you a "Teahousean"? (Is the Teahouse where you usually chat online?)

• Are you dedicated to the Teahouse Mission? (to provide a continually active chat that provides an experience of kindness and warmth for as many people as we can)

• Help out as a resident for several weeks and have an action score of 20 or more

• Demonstrate a talent at calming down disputes, promoting kindness and warmth

• Do you act like a mature adult? (You shouldn't disclose your age online and we won't ask your age, but you should act like an adult.)

• Are you handy with a baton? (Have you mastered some tea spells?)
