Teahouse Residents
Official members of the Teahouse are called "residents." They have some access to staff magic, explained below, to help defend the Teahouse against trolls.
Resident Spells
The following spells may be cast by Teahouseans:
☙ Insight ❧
You can cast the insight spell by messaging Lafayette (Tea Master) thusly:

This spell will tell you if you are a resident. If there is no result, you are not a resident. You can also cast the spell on other people to see if they are residents or staff.
This spell must be cast on a single line without quotes:
o.o NameOfPerson
☙ Jostle ❧
If you are feeling energetic enough, you can silence a troll with the Jostle spell:
[Jostle TrollsName] reason for jostle
This spell must only be used on trolls. Lafayette (and Frig) can see every instance of when it is used or misused, so please place a comment after the jostle so they can quickly understand why it was needed. Note that brackets are needed.
☙ Extol ❧
If someone is creating an atmosphere of warmth and kindness in the Teahouse, and welcoming everyone, and has been continually doing this for some time (20 minutes or more), you can create a record of this behaviour for the Tea Master with the Extol spell:
[Extol about Person] reason for extolling them
Tea Master will then review the record you have created, and if it is satisfactory, the Extol will be approved and count towards the Teahouse mission fulfilment (see Appraise) and also be visible in your Count.
☙ Grumble ❧
To create a record of somebody's behaviour for the later review of Tea Master, use the Grumble spell:
[Grumbles about TrollName] explanation of the situation
This is the preferred way to file any complaints about staff or visitors. Grumbles about unwelcoming behaviour towards visitors are especially valued.
☙ Count ❧
Say "count" privately to Tea Master to see your current staff action score. This score reflects the number of staff spells that have been judged favourably by administrators, and incorporates the number of valid extols and grumbles about you.
☙ Appraise ❧
According to Tea Master, "when there is one who makes warmth and kindness as a magical effort, continuously to create the atmosphere, welcoming to everyone, this one is fulfilling the mission." When we see somebody doing this to fulfil the mission, we are supposed to extol them.
To see how many hours in the past week this happened, say "appraise" privately to Tea Master. Our goal is to have 168 out of 168 hours, so that visitors at all times can experience a healing atmosphere.
☙ Smile ❧
If you feel that somebody is kind and wish to extend resident status to them, use the Smile spell:
[Smiles upon TheirName] reason for the smile
You can also cast this upon "blueheads" (people without avatars) to protect them from the blue shield.
☙ Frown ❧
If a resident is somehow turned into a troll, you can remove their residency by:
[Frowns upon TrollName] reason for the frown
Note that this will only have an effect if they have been smiled upon.
☙ About Resident Spells ❧
Resident magic is a branch of staff magic, which means that all spell use is logged and reviewed for misuse. These spells should only be used for the wellbeing of the Teahouse. Misuse lowers your staff action score and may result in banishment.
If you wish to use magic for personal purposes (such as ending a personal argument or being playful), you must use Obelisk magic instead of resident spells. Resident spells must only be used for serious non-personal matters for the betterment of the Teahouse.
Smiling and Frowning erode your mote armour. You will need motes before casting them.
Say "help" to Tea Master for reminders on how to cast these spells. (If you had a personal message for Tea Master, you should paste it again to him so it isn't lost behind your spells.)
